Keto Beef and Broccoli Ingredients
Flat Iron Steak: lean cuts like flat iron steak are ideal for stir-fry recipes. You’ll need 1 pound, thinly sliced against the grain.
Broccoli: while you can use frozen broccoli florets, 4 cups of fresh broccoli tend to have much better flavor and texture.
Coconut Oil: coconut oil is a healthy and tasty alternative to most cooking oils. If you’re not a big fan of coconut flavor, you can use ¼ cup of refined coconut oil or avocado oil, which is also keto-friendly.
Toasted Sesame Oil: the process of toasting the sesame seeds drastically changes the flavor, toasted sesame oil has a much stronger flavor so you’ll only need 1 teaspoon.
Fish Sauce: fish sauce has a very bold flavor, so less is more, 1 teaspoon should be enough to bring out the flavors in your dish.
Marinade Ingredients:
Coconut Aminos: coconut aminos can be a great soy sauce replacement for people on keto diets,
Ginger: ginger is a crucial ingredient for most Asian recipes and definitely adds extra flavor. However, it can be a very strong ingredient so 2 teaspoons of ground ginger should be plenty.
Garlic: garlic can add so much to any dish! You can use 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. While I prefer fresh garlic, you can also buy pre-minced garlic to cut your cook time.
Salt: a pinch of salt is always necessary, add ½ a teaspoon of salt.

Keto Beef and Broccoli Variations
While keto beef and broccoli is a simple dish, there are countless ways to customize and spice up your dish! You can try replacing, or adding, cauliflower to your keto beef and broccoli. Questions you might have
What cut of beef is the best for beef and broccoli?
Lean and tender cuts tend to be the best for stir-fry. While a lot of stir-fry recipes use flank steak, flat iron steak is much more forgiving. Flank steak is the learner of the two and can easily come out dry and tough. Flat iron steak, also known as a chuck steak, is more versatile for cooking and doesn’t require much prep (no need to trim the fat!).
Can I have soy sauce on keto?
While soy sauce is a low-carb sauce, soy is not ideal for a healthy diet as it contains estrogenic properties (bad estrogen) and contains wheat which is a keto “no-no”.
Because of this, I opted to substitute for coconut aminos in this recipe. Coconut aminos can be a great alternative to soy sauce since it’s keto-friendly and low-carb. It’s also a great substitute for people with dietary restrictions being soy, gluten, and wheat-free.
Is beef and broccoli good after a workout?
This recipe actually makes a great post-workout meal! It’s packed with lean protein, nutrients, and healthy carbs. You can also opt for extra vegetables to make this meal much more filling and nutritious.
