Are you ready for barbecues, sunscreen, summer sun, and pool water? So am I!

As someone who grew up in a barbecue-every-summer-household, I know that sides can definitely make or break a barbecue.

I don’t know about you but coleslaw has definitely always been one of my favorite sides.

Now, everyone makes coleslaw differently! This is my baseline, run-of-the-mill keto coleslaw recipe. Keto coleslaw is a great way to refresh from all the heavy food you tend to find at barbecues. (I also have a great keto-friendly pulled pork recipe to go with your slaw).

This recipe is also a great way to get the kiddos involved in the kitchen! I fall back to bagged coleslaw on the regular, so why not let the littles take over this one? They love bragging about having “cooked” keto coleslaw at barbecues.

With minimal cleanup and prep, this recipe is a win all the way around. This keto coleslaw recipe is definitely a crowd-pleaser, no one will be able to tell the difference!

Keto Coleslaw Ingredients

If you’re keeping it simple with bagged coleslaw mix, you can make your meal a family affair and let the kiddos take the charge!

Coleslaw Mix: I decided to give myself a break and use a 16 oz bag of coleslaw for this recipe.

Avocado Mayo: You can get your healthy fats in by using ½ cup of avocado mayo!

Powdered Sweetener: For this recipe, I used 2 tbsp Monkfruit Powdered Sweetener.

White Wine Vinegar: My husband and I NEVER agree on how tangy coleslaw should be. If you’re like us you can also play with the quantities of vinegar to your liking. I used 3 tbsp of vinegar in this recipe.

Salt: For just a bit of flavor, add 1 tsp of salt.

Pepper: I also added ½ tsp of pepper.

  • Chicken wings
  • Any grilled meat really!

Keto Coleslaw Variations

While I gave myself a break with this keto coleslaw using bagged mix, fresh veggies are always a great option!

You can also always substitute the vinegar for your preferred type. You can make this recipe paleo-friendly by using apple cider vinegar. Or you can just keep it keto with plain white vinegar.

For a bit of extra bite, add a squeeze of lemon juice to your keto coleslaw!

If you love spices and herbs, like I do, you can also sprinkle green onions or chives over your keto coleslaw.

Questions you might have

What is Monkfruit Powdered Sweetener?

This sweetener is made from Monk fruit, also known as Luo Han Guo. It’s basically a small gourd that looks like a small green melon. It is incredibly sweet tasting although it has zero sugar! Perfect for any keto recipe that call for a hint of sweetness.

If I choose to use fresh veggies, how I can quickly get them chopped and prepped?

A quick pro tip is to stick your veggies in a food processor on chop for a few minutes and done!
